BANDIPORA, MAY 02: In connection with the" Gram Swaraj Abhiyan", Kisan Kalyan Day was celebrated by Department of Agriculture in Bandipora district today.
          The district level celebration was held at Agriculture Complex Bandipora with District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Khursheed Ahmad Sania in the chair.
The sectoral heads of Agriculture and Allied sectors besides progressive farmers participated in the event.
          Newly designated " Farmers Information and Advisory centre(FIAC) was thrown open by the DDC for the service of the farming community of the district. The centre shall provide technical know-how to farmers with a dedicated phone line besides showing films and distribution of literature.
The experts on the occasion gave awareness to the participants about various centrally sponsored schemes like Rashtriya  Krishi Vikas Yojan (RKVY), Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture(MIDH), and National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA).
          The farmers were asked to come forward and avail benefits available under these schemes.
 Speaking on the occasion, The DDC stressed upon the officers to work with zeal and zest for the welfare of the farming community and ensure benefits of different centrally sponsored schemes in vogue to the genuine farmers in a hassle-free manner.
 Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora Mohammad Qasim was also present. Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was also celebrated at Hajin, Sumbal and Shadipora in Sonawari constituency during which farmers awareness programme was organized.
