Srinagar, Mar 7: All educational institutions remained closed as a precautionary measure for the third consecutive day on Wednesday in the Kashmir valley, where all examinations have been postponed following general strike and 'Shopian Challo' called by separatists on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) has also postponed all examinations of J&K Combined Competitive (Main) Examination, 2016 Wednesday.
The authorities had announced that all educational institutions in the Kashmir valley will remain closed till Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik had called for a general strike on Wednesday against shifting of detenues from outside the valley jails. The JRL has also called for 'Shopian Challo' today against the Shopian incident where two Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and four others were killed on Sunday evening.
All government and private educational institutions remained closed for the third day in the valley, including in Srinagar since Monday, when schools upto middle classes were to reopen for the first time after winter vacation. The High and High Secondary institutions, which reopened last month, also remained closed. The authorities have announced that all educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow also. 
The Kashmir University (KU) and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) have also announced suspension of teaching classes. The KU and IUST further said that all examinations of the university, which were scheduled to be held today have also been postponed and new date will be announced later.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has postponed all the examinations scheduled for March 6 and 7.
“All the schools of Kashmir Division shall remain closed on 7 also and the scheduled papers for biannual examinations of 10th and 12th classes in the division are also postponed,” a statement of the Board said. Joint Secretary JKBOSE, Syed Rouf said the new dates shall be announced later.
Meanwhile, the J&K Public Service Commission has notified for the information of all the concerned candidates that the examination for papers in Zoology-II, Physics-II, Commerce & Accountancy-II and Management-II and Anthropology-II and Sociology-II of J&K Combined Competitive (Main) Examination, 2016 scheduled to be held on yesterday and today respectively have been postponed. The revised schedule for the aforesaid papers shall be notified separately. UNI
