KATHUA, JANUARY 01: District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, today reviewed the physical and financial achievements under MGNREGA in the district.
During the meeting with Engineers of Rural Development Department, took block-wise review of the works completed under the scheme and directed the concerned to expedite and execute works within the set time frame. He also called for abandoning those works which achieved negligible progress since their inception and asserted on submitting pending bills within 10 days besides updating MIS regularly.   
He said that MGNREGA is a demand-driven scheme, which aims at to uplift poor villagers by providing them working days and development of their areas. He also called for improving coordination among Rural Development and Engineering wings to improve the overall efficiency in the execution of development works.
He further exhorted that work bills of the previous financial year be generated beforehand so that Fund Transfer Order and estimation of material required can be gauged well in advance and the same can be projected through Project Fund Management System.  
While sharing the details with DDC, ACD informed about PDs generated during the current fiscal, works taken up and completed by the department so far.
ACD, Sukhpal Singh, Executive Engineer Rural Development, D K Bhatt, AEEs and AEs attended the meeting.
