Jammu, Oct 05: Jammu Kashmir BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, while interacting with a group of local people of W.No. 17 in Pucca Talab area of Jammu West Constituency, said that there are a large number of such localities in Jammu city which has majority population of weaker sections, particular Scheduled Castes and they are supporting the candidates with Lotus symbol in the Urban Local Bodies elections.

“Gone are the days when SCs were taken for granted by parties like Congress for getting their votes”, Balbir said and added that members of this community are today well informed, more aware and fully understand the programmes and policies of the political parties.

Balbir said that it is the BJP only which has real pain and concern for the weaker sections and that Narendra Modi government at the Centre recognized the contribution of most revered dalit leader Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. It has also initiated various schemes for the socio-economic upliftment of the members of these sections, who remained neglected in the schemes of the successive governments of Congress.

Balbir informed that when BJP was in coalition in the state, it focussed on ensuring that SCs are taken care in government schemes.

Making a fervent appeal to support and vote BJP candidate Nidhi Manjotra, who is well educated, active and belongs to the SC community. He assured that the party candidate would put her best efforts to come up to the expectations of the voters after becoming their representative in Jammu Municipal Corporation.

BJP State Working Committee Member & Ward Incharge for 16 & 17, Ajay Vaid, on this occasion, said that elections to the ULBs are held to take the democracy to the grass roots level. It provides opportunity to the people at the lowest level to play their role in the matters related to development of their wards and ensure provision of basic amenities. He appealed for making the BJP candidates successful in their ward.   

The gathering, on the occasion, expressed gratitude to BJP for giving mandate to a female from reserved category of their ward to contest ULB election.
