SEPTEMBER 14: Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today
stressed on creating better infrastructure and connectivity to the potential
areas with religious significance to promote pilgrim tourism.
“Billawar
has many religious places of historic importance which can be projected for
attracting pilgrim tourists by making concerted efforts as travel motivations
are rooted deeply in socio-cultural aesthetics,” the Speaker said after paying
obeisance on the occasion of annual festival at Nag Mandir Sanayal, Dinga Amb
here at Billawar.
The
annual fair, held on the eve of Nag Panchami at the historical temple shrine,
witnessed huge rush of devotees from all walks of life. After extending
greetings to people, the Speaker inaugurated a Shed near the temple premises
which was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 15 Lakh under 13 FC by
Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj.
While
speaking about various tourist places in the area having religious
significance, Dr Singh emphasized on bringing Billawar under religious tourism
circuit and said that with increased accessibility and improved infrastructure
a complete transformation would be witnessed in proliferating religious
tourism.
“The
development and projection of tourist spots and religious places will not only
improve socio-economic status of the local population but also foster communal
harmony and lead to a cleaner social environment,” Dr. Singh added.
During
the religious congregation, several delegations apprised the Speaker about the
demands of their respective areas pertaining to improvement of water supply,
upgrading of roads and augmentation of power infrastructure. Dr Nirmal Singh
issued on spot directions to the concerned officers to resolve all the genuine
issues on priority.
BDO, Tehsildar, Engineers, other Divisional level officers, prominent
citizens and villagers in large numbers were present on the occasion.
