Participates in
post-match ceremony of Shahdaab U-16 Cricket tournament
SRINAGAR,
SEPTEMBER 14: Director School Education Kashmir Dr G N Itoo Friday stressed
on the overall development of the children and urged the teachers to provide a
conducive atmosphere to the students to ensure their academic as well as
extra-curricular excellence.
The Director was
addressing a post-cricket match ceremony at Shahdaab Higher Secondary School
Malbagh here. He asked the teachers to pay equal attention
towards extra-curricular activities for the overall development of the child
besides making their learning process interesting.
“We have to
strike a balance in a way that curricular and extra-curricular activities go
hand-in-hand and young children enjoy while studying,” he added.
He said
education, skill building and sports were means to empower the youth and the
state government was making targeted efforts to explore their hidden faculties
and adapt themselves in the humongous competitive world.
Earlier, the
Director gave away awards to the winning and runner-up teams of Shahdaab
Under-16 Cricket tournament. Around 16 teams from across the valley schools participated
in the tournament. The final match was played between Sanctorum Public School
Sopore and Delhi Public School Budgam.
DPS lifted the
trophy by defeating Sanctorum Public School Sopore. Playing first, Sanctorum
Public School scored 102 runs in given twenty overs. DPS Budgam easily walked
through the match and lifted the trophy.
Ashish Butt of
DPS Budgam was adjudged as the Man of the Match while Rohanpreet Singh of DPS
Budgam was adjudged as man-of-the series.
Dr Itoo was chief guest and Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir guest of honour on the
occasion.
