Jammu, Aug 27: Former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar Kavinder Gupta toured Chatha Satwati area of Gandhi Nagar and took stock of the damages to houses due to the recent rains.
while addressing at Shamali Mohalla Chatha, Gupta said that the Govt is very aware about its responsibilities towards the citizens of the state. He said that natural calamities can come but we will not allow people to suffer because of that. He also said that advance planning and preparedness to meet natural disasters is to be developed in our states. He said that all advanced countries have contingency management plans and effective forecasting whereby they are able to minimise the effects of natural disasters. He said that our govt will make every endeavour to develop such capacities.
Gupta further said that he will depute the Team of Govt. officials lead by BDO Satwari to access the quantum of the losses suffered, and then get the needful done on priority. Various delegations met the Former Deputy Chief Minister there and put forth their demands which mainly consisted of the Road problem, drains, and Health care and electricity problems faced by the inhabitants. Gupta Listened to the problems and assured the delegations that all the demand would be fulfilled shortly. He said that Tendering for the Blacktopping of various roads in this helmet is under process and in the month of September all the roads would be macamadazied.
Locals appreciated the efforts of the Kavinder Gupta and expressed their gratitude for taking up their pending demands time to time, on priority and also brought some other issues to his notice for early disposal. Gupta was accompanied by Pitamber Sharma, Bhushan Kumar among others.
Later, Gupta also launched Mega Plantation drive in presence of Parveen Sharma Director Citizen Cooperative Bank and Ankush Gupta at GGHS Gandhi Nagar. More than 100 Plants of different varieties were planted in school premises.  While addressing the School children and the staff members, Gupta said that it is the need of hour to plant more and more trees in Urban and rural areas of Jammu to make Jammu “Green Jammu Clean Jammu”. Gupta appreciated the efforts of Jagdish Sharma from NGO “Technyme for All” for this noble cause. He said that children can play a vital role in spreading this campaign. On the demand of Hand Pump in the school premises, Kavinder assured that within 15 days the work for hand pump shall be taken up.  In the end Vote of thanks was given by Headmaster Kiran Rajput to the dignitaries present. She said the initiate was taken on the direction from Director School Education Jammu, Rakesh Sarangal KAS.
