JAMMU, AUGUST 16: Floriculture
Department today organized plantation and sanitation drive at MHS Zanana park
during which various saplings were planted by Director Floriculture Jammu
Babila Rakwal along with senior officers of the department, members of the
ladies club and residents of the area who actively participated in the drive.
Department also handed over MHS Zanana Park Ladies Club building to its
president Vijay Gandotra and other members of the club after face-lifting and
renovation.
Speaking on the
occasion, Director Floriculture Jammu appealed the people to plant more and
more trees in their surrounding areas to deal with the situation arising due to
rapid climatic change. “Increased tree cover would reduce the solar radiation
reaching the ground surface thereby providing relief from the scorching heat
being faced in the summer season”, she added.
Among others District Floriculture Officer Vikrant Sharma along with all
Assistant Floriculture Officers of Jammu and officers from Engineering Wing of
the floriculture department were also present on the occasion.
