BANDIPORA, AUGUST 7: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Bandipora, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today, in a meeting of District Coordination Committee, finalized arrangements to observe National Deworming Day (NDD) on August 10, during which 1,50,810children from 01 to 19-year age are to be given deworming drug.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Hameeda Akhtar, Chief Planning Officer, Abdul Majeed, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Education Officer (CEO), District Social Welfare Officer, Nodal Officer ISM and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
On the occasion, CMO briefed the meeting about the action plan and informed that 1,50,810 children from 01 to 19 years age of the district is target to deworm by administering Albendazole (deworming medicine) on August 10 – the National Deworming Day. It was further informed that 1.17 lakh tablets of Albendazole 400 mg have been procured and are being supplied among the target populace through 816 Government Schools, 87 Private Schools and 803 Anganwari Centres of the district from today.
Speaking on the occasion the DDC directed concerned officers to work on convergence mode and coordinate with one another to get the best possible results on ground. The DDC highlighted the role and responsibility of Health, ICDS and Education department in making the National Deworming Day a success. He stressed for community awareness and sensitization for greater participation of the children in the campaign.
The DDC asked ACR to make Control Room functional for proper monitoring and Tehsildars to supervise the process. He also stressed that no children should remain uncovered and directed for door to door survey on next mop up day to ensure cent present coverage.
