BUDGAM, JUNE 23: District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Budgam in collaboration with District Social Welfare Office Budgam today organized a day-long awareness camp for specially-abled persons to make them aware about their rights envisaged under Legal Services Act as well as in the judicial system.
The camp was inaugurated by the Principal, District and Session Judge Budgam Rajiv Gupta in presence of District Magistrate Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, SSP Budgam Tajindhar Singh, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Authority, Munsif Judges and President District Bar Association Budgam and its members.
Speaking on the occasion, speakers threw light on the rights of disabled persons and how they can avail their rights under the Legal Services Act and other judicial norms, particularly free legal aid, physical disability aid as well as scholarships envisaged for them.
On the occasion, Rajiv Gupta directed District Social Welfare Officer Budgam to identify the deserving specially-abled persons across the district so that special aid as well benefits envisaged under legal aid could be provided to them on merit.
Later, 3 tricycles, 4 wheelchairs, 20 hearing aid machines and other allied equipment were distributed among the beneficiaries jointly by District and Session Judge Budgam and DM Budgam in presence of a huge gathering.
