RAJOURI, JUNE 28: Rural
Development Department today reviewed the progress on key projects initiated
under District Convergence Plan and preparedness for implementation of other
identified works.
The meeting was chaired by Assistant Commissioner
Development, Akhter Hussain Qazi in presence of DPO Dr Abdul Khabir.
The convergence plan envisaging dovetailing of various
Government schemes to enhance the scope of infrastructure creation in rural
areas was finalized earlier by the District Development Commissioner as a
sequel to the District Development Board meeting.
The Plan will focus on creation of infrastructure in
different sectors.
The projects have been taken under Education, Sports,
Agriculture, Social Forestry, Forests, Irrigation, Flood Control, Roads,
Bridges, Rural Housing, Sericulture, ICDS, Rural Infrastructure, Horticulture
and Tourism sectors.
Rs 21.60 Cr convergence budget will generate 11.62
Lakh person days of employment for rural masses.
A total of 3402 works are being taken up under the plan
which include construction of school compound walls, play fields, development
of plantation closures, construction of Anganwadi centres, PMAY houses, school
toilets, flood protection works and irrigation canals.
The district
administration is also providing drinking water facilities including hand pumps
in more than 100 hamlets under the convergence
plan. More than 100 bunkers have already been completed
under MGNREGA convergence and work on another 20 community bunkers is under
progress.
