27: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Khurshid
Ahmad Sanai alongwith a team of officers today visited Madhumati nallah at
Kaloosa and Bunar nallah at Sonerwani to review the progress of the project.
It was given out
that Rs 135 crore are being utilized under the project to protect various
habitations from floods and also to beautify Madhumati and Bonar Nallah.
The DDC was
informed that one children park with all required facilities has been
constructed, while as three more parks are being constructed on the banks of
these Nallahs
Besides, path
beautification, view points, bunds and other works including fencing of three
schools are being taken up under the ten-kilometer-long project. It was told
that about 70 percent work of the project has been completed so far on European
technology.
The DDC on
the occasion asked the concerned agency to speed up pace of work keeping in
view both flood protection and aquatic life, for which he directed for
provision of Fish Ladder in Madhumati Nallah for migration and fish
propagation. He also directed for stop of illegal extraction from Madhumati
Nallah and said that a ramp should be constructed at Sonerwani.
Later, the DDC
also visited Sonerwani to review the functioning of 50-bedded maternity
hospital and inspected various wards and Operation Theater. He directed for
regular water and power supply in the Hospital so that the patients and
attendants will not face any inconvenience.
During the visit,
various delegations met the DDC and apprised him about their problems. He
assured them that their genuine problems would be considered on priority.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Bilquees, AD Fisheries Sajad Hussain besides
Officers from R&B, I&FC, Fisheries NHPC, Police and other departments
accompanied the DDC.
