Bengaluru, May 18: Senior Congress leaders were detained by police on Friday when they marched towards Raj Bhavan to stage protest against Governor Vajubhai Vala for extending invitation to BJP to form the Government.
Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge former Karnataka Ministers Ramalinga Reddy, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr Parameshwara were among thoseers who were detained by the police while marching towards the Raj Bhavan. They were later released
Yesterday, newly elected Congress and JD(S) MLAs, Mr Azad, JD(S) National President and former Prime Minister H D Devegowda, JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy, held a symbolic protest against the Governor's invitation, even as Mr Yeddyurappa took oath of office and secrecy at Glass House in the Raj Bhavan.
Both the Congress and the BJP had shifted their elected legislators to Hyderabad. Senior leaders of both the parties feared that the BJP was making intense efforts to poach the elected members, Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah talking to newsmen alleged that there were adequate proof with the party to prove the horse trading efforts of the BJP using those close to tainted mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy and BJP mla Sreeramulu.
