POONCH, MAY 18: With the intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba
Mufti, the District Administration Poonch has been able to established first
ever transformer bank in the district to facilitate prompt replacement of the
damaged transformers in any part of the district.
With 15 transformers provided on the directions of
Chief Minister, the bank has been established in Electric Division Poonch store
at Potha, Surankote. The move is being widely hailed as the Holy month of Ramadan has set in.
Pertinently, the issue of non-availability of
transformer bank and prolonged delay in replacement of damaged transformers was
flagged as highly important by District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz
Asad during a video conference with Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.
The Chief Minister immediately issued directions
for making available 15 transformers to the administration so as to establish a
transformer bank in the district. The transformers were provided within
24 hours after the direction by the CM.
The bank was made operational and 5 transformers
were sanctioned for replacing the damaged transformers in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the
administration will further strengthen the bank by arranging more transformers
through some Funding mechanism to make the system of replacement of damaged
transformers more prompt and robust.
He also inspected the work on receiving station at
Potha where 3.15 MVA transformer is being installed. It will improve power
scenario in Surankote town and adjoining villages by augmenting the existing
infrastructure.
The DC also discussed with the concerned about
electrification of the left out villages especially along LOC. He was informed
that all such areas have been surveyed and DPRs are submitted to the government
under Saubhagya scheme.
People from all walks of life have hailed the
intervention of the Chief Minister for establishment of transformer bank and
expressed gratitude to the CM.
