Indian Institute of Science Education &Research for JK
NEW DELHI, MAY
29: Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education and
Information Technology, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari on Tuesday said that
the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar, has given nod
to the opening up of incubation centres for IIT and IIM for summer capital,
Srinagar.
Ansari today met
Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi to discuss various matters pertaining to the
education sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister said
that steps are underway to strengthen higher education in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister said that Union HRD minister has agreed for the establishment of
incubation centres of IIT and IIM at Srinagar.
The Minister
informed that the IIM Lucknow had team visited Kashmir during December 2017 to
identify rented building for running such incubation centre at Srinagar. The
building had been identified by the team and further course of the action as
required to be initiated by IIM Jammu is still awaited.
He said that
department has taken up the issue of creation of off campus of IIT Jammu at
Srinagar with the management of IIT Jammu. The necessary action as required to
be initiated in this behalf by IIT Jammu is still awaited.
The Minister
demanded establishment of an Indian Institute of Science Education and Research
(IISER) across the state, saying that State has only one CSIR Institute of
Research (IIIM-Indian institute of integrated medicine (llSER's are autonomous
institutes under MHRD). He informed the Union Minister that 46 colleges and
University of Kashmir have applied for NAAC accreditation but the concerned
team hasn’t visited these campuses for evaluation, it is proposed to take up
the issue with the NAAC authorities to accelerate the process.
