Chennai, May 4: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived here on Friday on a two-day visit to Tamil
Nadu.
He was received at the Airport by Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal, Chief Secretary Ms Girija Vaidyanathan, senior police officials. and among others.
After the brief reception at the Airport, he left for Vellore by a helicopter to inaugurate the centenary celebrations of Christian Medical College (CMC) and the Kidney transplant and cardiac unit at the Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre at Thirumalaikodi.
After offering worship at the Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple, Mr Kovind would leave for Chennai by helicopter in the evening.
After an overnight stay at Raj Bhavan, the President would participate in the Centenary Diamond Jubilee (160th) convocation of the Madras University on Saturday and also attend the Gurunanak College convocation.
After these two events, he would leave for New Delhi.
Police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of Mr Kovind's visit to the State. UNI
