Panaji, May 3: North Goa Principal District and Sessions Judge Irshad Agha on Thursday adjourned to June 15 further hearing in the criminal trial of Goa Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho and the six other accused in the infamous 2001 multi crore Power scam case.
When Mauvin Godinho’s lawyer informed the Court that the accused could not be present due to personal difficulty, Judge Agha directed that Mauvin Godinho remain present in Court without fail at the next hearing.
Meanwhile, Advocate Aires Rodrigues filed an intervention application seeking to assist the prosecution with Judge Agha fixing for June 15 arguments on the application.
Advocate Rodrigues submitted before Judge Agha that in public interest he was constrained to intervene as the accused was a very powerful and currently Panchayat Minister. UNI
