Jalna, May 12: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a senior technician attached with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) at Kanhaiya nagar in Ambad taluka of the district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer.
Pandit Dipa Rathod (57) had sought Rs 7,000 as bribe from the farmer for replacing new transformer in his land in place of faulty burnt transformer which was already handed over to the MSEDCL office, a release issued by ACB here on Saturday said.
Reluctant to shell out bribe money, the farmer approached the ACB's office here and registered the complaint against the technician.
After verifying the facts of the complaint, an ACB team on Friday laid a trap in a Mauli hotel at Kanhaiya nagar and caught red-handed Rathod, while accepting bribe money of Rs 5,000 from the farmer.
An offence under sections 7, 12, 13(1)(D), 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered with the Ambad police station against him and further investigation was on, the statement added. UNI
