Reviews progress on
PMGSY, CRF, NABARD road projects in Pampore Constituency
SRINAGAR, MAY 29: Pitching for early
completion of various road projects in the Pampore Constituency, Minister of
State for PHE, I&FC, Forest and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad, Tuesday said
better road connectivity is interrelated with economic development as it
promotes access to economic and social services.
The Minister said
this while chairing a meeting of officers of Public Works Department and
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), convened to review the progress on
major road network works taken up for execution in the constituency during this
fiscal.
The meeting also
discussed various issues including the status of fulfilment of Chief Minister
Mehbooba Mufti’s directions and work on repair of damaged culverts, drains and
other link roads.
Mir Zahoor said
that better road connectivity is a top priority of the present dispensation and
focus is being laid on the upgrading and improving the road network in the
state. He said the improvement in connectivity will help increase government
out-reach to people living in remote areas, adding that availability of better
services would help in enhancing agricultural incomes and employment
opportunities also.
Enjoining upon
officers to work with utmost dedication and in a coordinated manner, he asked
all concerned authorities to ensure that the works are completed within
stipulated time frame. He directed the concerned officers to personally monitor
the progress of ongoing developmental works on a regular basis to ensure their
timely completion so that people are benefited.
He further exhorted
upon officers to ensure that quality of works is not compromised with.
Terming the roads
as the lifeline of any area, the Minister said that government has
earmarked sufficient funds for under-execution road projects in the state.
Reviewing the
physical and financial achievements in respect of different road projects taken
up in Pampore Constituency this fiscal, the meeting was informed that the
construction work on Lelahar-Mohanvig- Gulbug, Samboora- Hatiwari and Khrew -
Bathan road projects are apace. It was also informed that under different
schemes an amount of Rs 33.50 crore is being expended on these road
projects during the current financial year.
Senior officers of R&B and PMGSY and other Departments were present
in the meeting.
