Siliguri, May 9: Driver Tek Bahadur Gurung (47) and his co-driver Gaurav Chettri (35) were today killed when their cooking gas laden truck on way to Kalimpong fell off of the road to a 70 meters gorge near Suntale khola (rivulet), according to Kalimpong ASP Amlayan Ghosh.
He said the truck carrying Indane gas on way to Kalimpong town from Siliguri fell down nearly 200 ft from NH10 at Suntaley khola, Lohapool under Reang PP.
While co-driver Gourav Chhetri of Salugara expired at the spot, driver Tek Bahadur Gurung, also from Salugara, succumbed to his wounds at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
The accident occurred early this morning. The truck split nearly into splinters under the impact of the fall and gas cylinders strew around the river bed.
Fire brigade personnel reached to the spot to retrieve the gas filled cylinders. UNI
