Speaking
on the occasion, the CEC said that we are committed to Bakula Rinpoche’s vision
of making Ladakh developed and prosperous by
means of education.
He
appreciated Ladakh Media and Cultural Society for organising the film festival commemorating the birth centenary of
Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, who also
served as India’s ambassador to Mongolia.
“Films
especially made by local filmmakers hold great
relevance and importance in highlighting various social issues
and honouring legends like Rinpoche,” he said, adding films are one of the best medium to educate and spread awareness among masses.

The
CEC said the celebration of the birth centenary of the remarkable man reminds
us to follow the path of development shown by him.
Later,
a film titled “Wangmo” directed by TsetanAngchuk was screened during the inaugural session. The film is based on the
concept of ‘Beti Bachao, BetiPadao’
and highlighted the importance of educating girl child. In
the afternoon session, films like Kesar, Donglen and Butsa Nayi Sodhay were also screened as part of the two-day
film festival.
