Siliguri, May 12: A government bus ferrying policemen to poll-bound north Bengal districts collided with a truck in North Dinajpur, leaving 30 people, including 28 cops, injured early today.
Siliguri's Assistant Police Commissioner Pranob Sikdar said 28 policemen, including a sub-inspector, and two civilians, were injured when the bus collided with the truck on National Highway 34.
Four of the critically wounded cops have been admitted to a private nursing home here and 25 others were shifted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
Three others SI Gopi Nath Das and truck driver and his assistant have been admitted to a hospital in North Dinajpur.
The mishap occurred at around 0050 hours when the force from the Siliguri Commissionerate was travelling in the state-owned bus for poll duty in north Bengal districts.
Panchayat elections are scheduled in the state on Monday. UNI
