New Delhi, Apr 2: For the 18th day in the second half of the budget session, the Rajya Sabha on
Monday witnessed an uproar by the AIADMK members on the Cauvery waters issue,
forcing the adjournment of the House for the day.
Soon after the laying of papers, the AIADMK members began
protesting on the failure of the Centre to set up the Cauvery water management
Board.
Repeated pleas by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to members to allow the House to proceed fell on deaf ears as the members continued with their uproar, forcing the Chairman to adjourn the House for the day.
This is the 18th day in succession in the second half of the budget session that the House has witnessed protest over various issues like the Bank scams, the demand for special status for Andhra Pradesh and the Cauvery waters issue, leading to the washout of proceedings of the House without transacting much business.
