Kolkata, Apr 2: Eighteen-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by India Table Tennis player
Soumyajit Ghosh under false pretext of marriage, today called on West Bengal
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with a demand to arrest the star paddler
immediately.
The girl told reporters that she along with her father called
on the chief minster at her Kalighat residence and narrated her how wrong was
done to her by the star TT player.
" I told the chief minister why Soumyajit Ghosh was not arrested so far despite I filed an FIR and a medical test was done on her" the teenager told the media people.
She said the chief minster assured her that the law will take it own course since the matter now with the judiciary.
The teenager claimed that the police had gone to Siliguri (north Bengal where Ghosh stay) and Chandranagar (Hooghly district) to trace the accused persons, Ghosh and his two relatives. But all the members have been evading arrest, the girl claimed after meeting the chief minister. The girl also submitted an application with attachment of an FIR copy to the chief minister.
The 18-year-old accused the World No 58 of raping her under the false pretext of marriage, Ghosh and the girl, the resident of Barasat in North 24 Parganas, first interacted on social media in 2014 before getting into a relationship.
Police have reportedly charged TT star with rape, criminal conspiracy, causing miscarriage without woman’s consent and cheating.
The Table Tennis Federation of India has suspended Soumyajit Ghosh from all form of tournament in home and abroad till final outcome of the police investigation and court verdict, if any, on the alleged rape charges against him by a teenager. UNI
