New Delhi, Apr 16: Charging the Congress with using appeasement politics, the ruling BJP said on
Monday that the grand old party has been exposed as never before and Congress
president Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation.
Earlier, in Hyderabad, all accused, including
Swami Aseemanand, a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member, was
acquitted in the 2007 Mecca Masjid Blast that left nine dead and 58 injured.
Ten people allegedly belonging to right wing organisations were named as
accused in the case.
Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in the national capital, Party's national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, 'Today, the Congress party has been exposed as never before. The way Congress party has been defaming the Hindu religion in the name of Hindu terrorism for appeasement, has been revealed.'
For some votes, the way the Congress party acted to defame the Hindu religion, today UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party president Rahul Gandhi should ask for forgiveness from the whole country, Dr Patra said.
The then Home Minister Shivraj Patil, former prime minister Manmohan Singh,senior leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sushil Kumar Shinde had used word 'saffron terror' and given statements for appeasement politics, he charged.
'In 2103, at the Congress plenary in Jaipur, Mrs Gandhi, Mr Rahul Gandhi and Dr Singh were present on the dais, when then Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had used 'saffron terror and in one stroke, age-old civilation of Hindus was abused. We all heard. The BJP and Sangh were also defamed, 'Dr Patra said, adding that both Mrs Gandhi and Mr Gandhi remained quiet.
In 2010, Congress leader P Chidambaram had first used the word 'saffron terror', he said.
He said the Congress was quiet when the 2G judgment came. 'You said the court is correct, today you say something else, why the double standard.'
He said 'Will Mr Gandhi come out with a lighted lamp at midnight and ask forgiveness from the country?'
Dr Patra said when Mr Gandhi met the US ambassador, he has said 'there was no fear from the Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), a banned Islamist organisation but from the Hindus.'
Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid while campaigning in UP had talked about Batla house case, saying Mrs Gandhi had wept after seeing terrorists' bodies but they never saluted the martyred police officials.
He said the Congress knew the truth for seven years still it did not put forth the facts.
If the Congress thinks the country as its own, then Mrs Gandhi and Mr Gandhi should come out and apologise, the country demands it, Dr Patra said.
The BJP spokesperson said Congress chief ministerial candidate Siddaramaiah for Karnataka assembly elections, says that his name contains 'Ram', 'still you are going in an alliance with the Popular Front of India (PFI), against which investigation is on, and you are discharging their people.' UNI
