13: Mortal remains of Indian army jawan Kiran Popatrao Throat, who was
killed in firing by Pakistan, were consigned to flames on Friday at his native
place at Fakirabadwadi near Ladgaon village of Vaijapur tehsil of this
district.
He was killed on April 11 by Pakistani army in
Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch and Rajuri sector on the Line of Control. His
younger brother Amol Thorat lit the pyre.
Earlier, his body was arrived by a special aircraft at Chikalthana airport here last evening from New Delhi. It was received by Guardian Minister Dr Dipak Sawant, Mayor Nandakumar Ghodele and top military officers among others.
Thousands of people, shouting slogans, participated in the funeral procession.
Those prominent personalities participated in funeral ceremony were Vaijapur MLA Bhausaheb Chikatgaonkar, MLC Subhash Zambad, BJP state secretary Bhagwat Karad, Additional collector P L Sormare, Resident Collector Sandipan Sanap, Rural S P Dr Arti Singh among others. UNI
