2: Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale paid a two-day official visit to Bhutan
as part of the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two
countries.
During the visit that got underway on Sunday, Mr Gokhale met
his Bhutanese counterpart Dasho Sonam Tshong.
Mr Gokhale also called on the Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, according to a release from the MEA.
The Foreign Secretary also had an audience with the King of Bhutan - Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
"The visit was in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries, and provided an opportunity to the two sides to discuss matters concerning our bilateral partnership, including the commemorative activities planned in 2018 to mark the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries," the release said.
The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere in keeping with the unique and exemplary bonds of friendship and cooperation that exist between the two countries, it said. UNI
