KATHUA, APRIL 02: Taking a stride towards making Kathua an open
defecation free district, District Development Commissioner Kathua Rohit
Khajuria today rolled out a plan involving different departments and
stakeholders to make it successful during one day orientation programme on
Swachh Bharat Mission (G) at Government College for Women Kathua.
While speaking on the occasion, DDC said that 41%
of the total 92,979 households have the provision of toilets and laid thrust on
taking the task of making toilets on mission mode by motivating people as
district Kathua has shown dismal performance in the state. He said that there
is dire need to sensitize people and make them think towards the menace of open
defecation and its ill impact on health.
Under the plan ADC’s
and SDM’s are directed to supervise and review the pace
time to time. The teams comprising the field staff of Agriculture, ICDS, Rural
Development, Health, FSC& CA will visit identified households with no
toilets and educate them to avail the scheme of individual household toilets of
rural development under Swachh Bharat Mission(g) and get Rs 12000/- as token
money. The BDO’s were given monthly targets of their respective
panchayats.
“To
make the progress accountable, targets will be divided into sub cluster,
cluster, panchayat and then block wise through constant monitoring at
panchayat, block and tehsil level” DDC added. He also
directed XEN PHE to provide water supply to the identified locations having no
provision of water.
On the occasion problems and best strategies were
discussed to attune the field workers to adopt means to bring attitudinal
change in people. The provision of recognition for best performing teams was
also incorporated under the plan.
ADC Kathua Ashok Sharma, ADC Basohli Sanjay Gupta,
ADC Billawar Joginder Singh Rai, SDM Bani, BDO’s,
and officials of Rural Development, Agriculture, Health, FSC& CA were also
present.
