Mysuru, Apr 11: Despite their names yet to be cleared by their respective High Commands to
contest, the ticket aspirants of BJP and JDS have already started campaigning
for May 12 election to Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
Though JD(S) has already announced its
candidates for most of the seats in Mysuru, the Congress and BJP are yet to
disclose the name of their candidates.
The Congress in all likelyhood will be fielding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from Chamundeshwari from where he has won five times and he himself has announced that he will contest from this constitutency as it has given him political birth.
The BJP’s ticket move on Krishnaraja constituency is being closely watched in the political circles with former Minister S.A. Ramdas making a strong bid along with H.V. Rajeev, a loyalist of BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa. The party may keep the aspirants waiting since it does not want to take chances. It was perhaps waiting for a consensus as it is eyeing to wrest the seat from the Congress.
According to BJP Sources the candidates for Mysuru District may be named in the second list which is likely to be released with in a couple of days.
Mr B Y Vijayendra, son of Mr Yeddyurappa, has started meeting people of Varuna constitutency with hope of getting BJP ticket. He may take on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Dr Yatindra who was one of the aspirant.
Former Mayor Sandesh Swamy alias S. Satish, who quit the JD(S) and joined the BJP recently, has started campaigning in Mysuru constituency. “I’m introducing myself to the wards since I am new to the party. It’s true I’m aspiring for the ticket and also confident of getting it. Before the formal announcement, I am going around the constituency to tell people that I am not with the JD(S) any more and will be contesting the elections as the BJP candidate,” he told UNI.
Former MUDA Chairman L Nagendra, a strong contender for the BJP ticket from Chamaraja constituency, has started his campaign. Posters of him appealing for voters’ blessings are prominently visible in the constituency where he had unsuccessfully contested on the BJP ticket in the 2013 polls.
The candidates of JDS, whose names were announced in the first list have started campaigning and they claimed “We are ahead of rival candidates in reaching out to voters since we began our campaign early, said K V Mallesh candidate for Krishnaraja constituency.
The tickets to sitting JD(S) MLAs have also been announced by the party, which is making a strong bid to capture more seats in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home turf. Sitting MLAs G.T. Deve Gowda and Sa. Ra. Mahesh have also stepped up their campaign.
The early announcement of tickets in the case of Chamaraja constituency resulted in the rebellion in the JD(S) with ticket aspirant Harish Gowda entering the fray as an Independent and starting campaigning in the constituency. UNI
