Madurai, Apr 3: Thousands of ruling AIADMK cadres, including party leaders and ministers of
Tamil Nadu cabinet began a day-long hunger strike in Southern, Central, and
Delta districts of the state to condemn the Central government for failing to
constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) on Tuesday morning.

Udhayakumar and Minister for Cooperation 'Sellur' K Raju, over 5,000 AIADMK men
were observing fast at the junction of Mela Masi Street and North Masi Street
in Madurai city. The protesters shouted slogans against the Centre urging it to
set up the CMB without any further delay.
Hundreds of partymen, led by Minister for Milk and Dairy Development K T Rajenthra Bhalaji, were observing fast at Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district, while, Minister for Forests “Dindigul” C Sreenivasan was leading the hunger strike at Dindigul.
Reports reaching here said Minister for Food and Civil Supplies R Kamaraj was heading the fasting agitation at Tiruvarur, Minister for Agriculture R Doraikkannu at Thanjavur, Minister for Environment K C Karuppannan in Thoothukudi and similar agitation was going on in Theni, Sivaganga, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram district and elsewhere.
Majority of shops also remained closed in several districts in response to a dawn-to-dusk bandh call given by Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangangalin Peramaippu and Federation of Tamil Nadu Chambers of Commerce and Trade Associations on the Cauvery issue.
Meanwhile, DMK volunteers staged road-roko agitations in various districts for the third day in succession today in various districts. More than 1,000 DMK men, led by former Minister K N Nehru, were picketing the vehicular traffic near the busy Central Bus Stand at Tiruchirapalli, reports said. UNI
