Siliguri, Mar 27: BJP leader Mukul Roy today accused the Mamata Banerjee government of
"unnecessary" fomenting the issue of Ramnavami procession with arms,
saying it has been a traditions in Indian culture for ages.
He said for ages the procession with arms during Ramnavami
has been witnessed and it was nothing new. " But the government is
unnecessarily fomenting the issue by banning it." Mr Roy, who arrived here
to over see the activities of the party's functionaries ahead of visit of party
chief Amit Shah, said.
He said despite the government's directive against the arms procession, the ruling Trinamool Congress also had organised such rallies with arms. He said he has documentary evidences that the TMC was organising processions with arms.
He, however, expressed sadness at the happening at Ranigunj in Asansol where IPS officer Arindam Dutta Choudhury was critically wounded in a crude bomb attack on Monday.
On the formation of the Third Front by the many opposition leaders, including AITC chief Mamata Banerjee, Mr Roy said it was a mirage.
He said the attempt to form a third front in present Indian political system was a futile exercise. UNI
