Mumbai, Mar 22: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday gained by 75.46 points to 33,211.64 in opening trade as select buying was witnessed in Energy, FMCG, IT and Finance stocks.
Nifty of National Stocks Exchange (NSE) rose by 15.50 points to 10,170.75.
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 33,281.71 and 33,107.32 respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra-day high and low at 10,207.85 and 10,147.40 respectively. 
The sectoral such as Energy, FMCG, IT and Finance stocks kept the market strong for the third consecutive session.
In scrips, ONGC, Tata Motors, Reliance Industries and Sun Pharma increased while Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Wipro and ICICI Bank declined in opening trade.
The gainers were ONGC by 2.37 pc to Rs 179.60, Tata Motors by 1.3 3 pc to Rs 338.35, Reliance Industries by 1.24 pc to Rs 907.50 and Sun Pharma by 1.18 pc to Rs 510.65.
The losers were Tata Steel by 1.22 pc to Rs 575.25, Adani Ports by 1.11 pc to Rs 359.85, Wipro by 1 pc to Rs 292.60 and ICICI Bank by 0.85 pc to Rs 287.15. UNI
