SRINAGAR, MARCH 13: A delegation of poultry farmers today met
Divisional Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan and
apprised him of various issues related to the poultry
sector.
During the meeting, poultry farmers raised several
issues confronting them vis-à-vis rearing of
poultry birds. They said there is no proper mention of MRP and the ingredients
that the feed is prepared of on the feed bags.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned
officers to take note of lapses made on part of the manufacturers and take
serious action against the erring traders. He also directed concerned
departments to undertake rate analysis of the feed bags and also ensure sample
testing of the feed to check the quality of the product.
The farmers appealed Div Com to pave way for
separate poultry Mandi so that it becomes easier for them to purchase and sell
products to which he assured them that the matter will be looked into.
The meeting was attended by District Commissioner
Pulwama, Director Industries and Commerce, Director FCS&CA, Director Animal
Husbandry, Kashmir, Joint Controller Legal Metrology, Deputy Director Drugs and
Food Safety and Standards and others besides representatives from Poultry
Farmers Union SIDCO Lassipora, Pulwama.
Meanwhile, the Drugs and Food Control Department
said that no dressed chicken from outside the State will be allowed to be transported
into Valley if they fail to transport them in refrigerator vans.
