Chennai, Mar 3: DMK working president and Tamil Nadu state opposition leader M K Stalin said
that it is insult to the formers and state for not giving appointment to Tamil
Nadu chief Minister to discuss the Cauvery issue.
Talking to media on Saturday at Secretariat
after meeting with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, he said that during
the all party meeting last month it was decided all political parties and
farmers association leaders should meet Prime Minister to pressurise for
constituting a Cauvery Water Management Board (CWMB) and Cauvery Regulatory
Authority (CRA).
Mr Stalin said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has called him over phone on Friday to meet him to discuss the Cauvery issue. As per his call himself and his party leader Dhurai Murugam met chief minister in his office now.
He said that during the meet, the Chief minister has informed that the Prime Minister has not given appointment to request for constituting CWMB and CRA and suggested to meet Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Immediately Mr Stalin said that Gadkari has given statement recently in this city that there is no time frame to constitute CWMB and CRA even after the Supreme Court has given order to constitute within six weeks time. Mr Stalin said he has informed to the Chief Minister what is the use of meeting Nithin Gadkari as he has given statement against the interest of the state.
Mr Stalin further said that he has suggested to the Chief Minister to call Assembly session immediately so, that they can pass resolution on this issue. The Chief minister informed him that he will wait till Monday next as he is expecting some good news and if they did not get any proper message they would call a assembly session from March 8 itself.
The opposition leader said he also informed to the Chief MInister that all the MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha should threaten that they should resign to pressurise the Union Government to constitute CWMB and CRA as only four weeks left balance as per the Supreme Court order.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu State Minister for Fisheries Jayakumar told media that it is necessary to constitute CWMB and CRA as per the order of the Court. UNI
