Jammu, Mar 28: More than 70 visually impaired climbers from across the six states will be taking part in the First IMF National Sport Climbing Competition heRe
The competition was inaugurated on Tuesday by the former MLA Ashwani Sharma flanked by Chairman of Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), S Bhattacharjee.
General Secretary of Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Khajuria said that 70 to 80 climbers from six states of the country will be participating in the competition and the special climbers will prove their mettle in climbing 40 feet high wall.
However, Mr Sharma congratulated the climbers on the inclusion of the sport in the next Asian Games to be held at Indonesia and Olympic Games scheduled for 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
He also hoped that two ace climbers from the state would find a place in the national team for the Asian and Olympics. UNI
