JAMMU, MARCH 26: An Orientation Programme on the
life and philosophy of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi was organized by the
Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi at Legislative Council Secretariat
here today.
Minister for Cooperatives and
Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay was the chief guest on the
occasion while MLC, Ramesh Arora presided over the function.
Several prominent personalities
attended the function and highlighted the teachings and contribution of Mahatma
Gandhi towards the nation.
Prominent among others who spoke
on the occasion included Secretary, J&K Legislative Council, Abdul Majid
Bhat, Director, Gandhi Smriti, Dipankar Shri Gyan, Professor Pushpa Motiyani,
Professor T.K. Thomas, Shameem Raina, Professor Hemanshu Bourai, Basant.
The speakers stressed upon the
need to follow the ideology of Mahatma
Gandhi to liberate ourselves from the web of chaos and confusion of present
materialistic world.
Prof. T.K. Thomas, a famous
writer, delivered lecture on “Children and youth participation in constructive work”.
Legislators Ramesh Arora, Naresh Kumar Gupta,
Pardeep Kumar Sharma, Vikram Randhwa, Girdhari Lal Raina, Ashok Khajuria,
Showkat Hussain Ganai, Qaiseer Jamsheed Lone, Surinder Moham Ambardar and
Saif-ud-Din Bhat were also present on the occasion.
Prof. Pushpa Motiyani said that
teachings of Gandhiji have greater relevance in present era which needs to be
followed in true sprit by all.
Surinder Mohan Ambardar presented
vote of thanks.
Among others Special Secretary,
Legislative Council Mohammad Ashraf Wani besides senior officers and officials
of Council Secretariat were present on the occasion.
