Mysuru, Mar 30: BJP National President Amit Shah on Friday sought support of the people to his party to form the next government in Karnataka as Janata Dal (Secular) has no strength to dethrone the ruling Congress Government headed by Chief Minister Siddaramiah.
Addressing the booth level party workers here, he said that only BJP has capacity to dislodge the corrupt Congress government in the State. Of course, JD-S could win few seats, however, they do not have capacity to form the next government on its own, hence, people should vote for the BJP to remove the Congress government in the State, he added.
Admitting that he had made wrong statement at Davanagere while addressing a press conference recently, and AICC President Rahul Gandhi and Mr Siddaramiah tweeting on this are making a big deal. However, the people of Karnataka will not take any wrong decision while making their mind to vote during the election.
Mr Shah had stated that according to a Supreme Court Judge, the most corrupt government is Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka. However, he corrected himself when the mistake was pointed out by BJP Lok Sabha member Prahalad Joshi.
He said that Congress party is claiming that BJP has no strength in the old Mysuru area, however, now the trend has changed and this time people will give shock to both Congress and JD-S.
Former Mysuru City Corporation Mayor and JD-S leader Sandesh Swamy officially joined BJP during the Navashakti Samavesha.
Sandesh Swamy who was denied a ticket from the Narasimharaja Constituency from JD(S) quit the party and joined BJP.
In the 2013 Assembly election, Sandesh Swamy had contested against present Minister and Congress leader Tanveer Sait and lost to him.
However, he was aspiring for a ticket from JD(S) in the upcoming Assembly election but was refused ticket by the party as they decided to issue ticket to a new face Abdullah. UNI
