New Delhi, Mar 22: President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and
his wife Elke Büdenbender on Thursday arrived here on a five-day State visit to
the country.
The visiting dignitaries were received by Union
Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation SS Ahluwalia."Herzlich willkommen! Warm welcome to President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mrs Elke Büdenbender to India. Minister of State, Drinking Water and Sanitation SS Ahluwalia received the honoured guests," MEA Spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
In a telephonic call to German Chancellor Angela Merkel to congratulate her on assuming office as the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany for the fourth successive term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was looking forward to his meeting with President Steinmeier.
During his visit, Mr Steinmeier will be going to Varanasi and is likely to visit Sarnath Archaeological Museum there and also interact with the students of Banaras Hindu University. UNI
