New Delhi, Mar 28: The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the Delhi High Court order -- which had
asked the Election Commission of India to consider allotting the ‘pressure
cooker’ poll symbol to the AIADMK faction led by TTV Dhinakaran -- and said
that the faction led by Dhinakaran cannot use the 'pressure cooker' as party
symbol till it heard the matter again.
The three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice AK
Sikri, asked the Division Bench of the Delhi High Court to decide the main case
by April.
"TTV Dinakaran, can't use the pressure cooker as party symbol, till the apex court hears the matter again," the two-judge Bench of the top court said.
The top court said, till the next hearing in the case, TTV can't use 'pressure cooker' as party symbol.
The election symbol dispute arose between the EPS (E Palani Samy), O Paneer Selvam (OPS) and TTV Dinakaran camps.
The Delhi High Court in its order had recently directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to allot pressure cooker symbol to TTV Dinakaran faction.
It was subsequently challenged by the EPS and OPS factions before the top court last week, which had said and listed the matter for further hearing for Wednesday. UNI
