Kolkata, Mar 6: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and
CPI(M) Polit Buro today came down heavily on the bulldozing of the statue of
Lenin in Tripura, barely three days after the BJP and its ally ousted
CPI(M)-led Left Front government in the general elections to the 60-member Legislative Assembly.

Lenin was demolished at Belonia town in South Tripura on Monday. Heavy loaded bulldozer was used to ground the statue.
Ms Banerjee in a rally at Purulia while condemning the demolition of Lenin statue said it was not acceptable.
She said it was not the job of the government to remove the statue.
The Polit Buro of the CPI(M) strongly condemned the alleged unleashing of unprecedented violence and arson by the RSS/BJP across the state of Tripura in the aftermath of their victory in the recent Assembly election.
" The CPI(M) and Left Party offices and cadres are targeted with murderous assaults. The destruction of the statue of Lenin is symbolic of the rabid anti–communist, anti–democratic fascist character of the RSS, " the CPI(M) statement said.
A delegation of the CPI(M) and Left parties MPs also submitted a memorandum to the PM today in Parliament, detailing major incidents of such attacks.
Seeking immediate intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CPI(M) in the memorandum said after the election results in Tripura, the 'goons' of the BJP have unleashed a reign of terror and all-round attack on the members and supporters of the CPI(M), their houses, party offices and mass organization offices throughout the state.
It pointed out that some 514 individuals were injured, 1539 houses attacked, 196 houses set on fire, 134 party offices vandalised and 208 party offices captured. Many mass organisation offices also were attacked and captured.
The attacks were continuing, it maintained.
The CPI(M) also took out a massive rally in the city to protest the alleged attacks on its party supporters in Tripura.
