Daltonganj, Mar 6: CBI sleuths today arrested the in-charge of paddy procurement center located at Harihargunj of the Palamu district on charges of demanding bribe from a farmer.
CBI officials said that the arrested has been identified as Arvind Kumar Paswan who had demanded a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a farmer Sanjeet Singh of Belodar who was trying to sell 65 qunitals of paddy at the procurement center.
The farmer said that since February 7 he was trying to sell his paddy at the center but every time he was being returned over one pretext or the other. Upon making several requests the depot in-charge demanded a bribe of Rs 5000 to purchase his paddy but later the issue was settled at Rs 4,000. The farmer later registered his complaint with the CBI since the matter was related to FCI.
A team of the CBI led by DSP R K Singh arrested Paswan red handed and took him to Ranchi. UNI
