GANDERBAL, MARCH 13: An
awareness camp-cum Design Workshop was conducted by the office of Assistant
Director Handicrafts Ganderbal at Government College of Physical Education,
Gadura Ganderbal here today.
Additional
District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Nazir Ahmad Baba was the chief
guest on the occasion. Assistant Director Handicrafts, Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad
Shah was also present on the occasion.
A
large gathering of artisans mainly belonging to Willow-Wicker craft
participated in the programme and was appraised of the innovations created by
School of Designs. The prototypes of new designs were also kept on display for
adoption by the artisans.
Speaking on the occasion, ADDC Ganderbal appreciated
the efforts of the Handicrafts Department Ganderbal in reaching out to the
doorsteps of the artisans and suggested that such camps should be organized on
regular basis at different craft pockets of the district.
Assistant Director Handicrafts Ganderbal highlighted
the departmental activities carried out in the district and informed the
audience that one craft cluster stands approved under World Bank aided
Programme for promotion and development of Willow-Wicker craft.
Among others, Lead District Manager, representatives
from KVIB, state co-operative Bank and Willow-wicker experts from School of
Design also participated in the programme. They
apprised the artisans about various schemes being offered by the respective
departments/wings. The artisans also interacted with the officers in a
question-answer session and on spot solutions were offered to redress their
grievances.
