Lucknow, Mar 23: The turncoats in the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Sabha polls have their own reasons for
switching sides and even blamed their own party for their decision.
However, suspense still prevail on the vote of Independent
candidates Raghuraj Pratgap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya and his close confident
Saroj.
Sources said that both the Independent MLAs are likely to vote for SP candidate Jaya Bachchan and it was reported that they have rejected the offer made by BJP to support their candidates.
SP MLA Nitin Agarwal, son of Naresh Agarwal, who recently joined by the BJP leaving SP, claimed that all the 9 candidates of BJP will win.
" SP insulted their worker and people will answer them for choosing a candidate that entertains the society rather than one who serves the society," he said while attacking the SP candidate Jaya Bachchan.
The statement of the young MLA can again create controversy as a similar statement by his father was criticised by the BJP leaders and later he had to seek apology.
Meanwhile, BSP MLA Anil Singh, who switched sides and voted for BJP was not at all concerned about his action."have voted for BJP, I don't know about the rest," he said.
Independent candidate Amanmani Tripathi too said that he has voted for the BJP as ' Maharaj' or chief minister Yogi Adityanath was his guru. " I will do whatever my Guru say," he stated.
But on the other hand Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party(SBSP) president Om Prakash Rajbhar though claiming that all the nine BJP candidates will win but questioned the working style of the BJP government in the state. " The most back and most dalit community needs more attention by the government and we will fight till they get their dues," he stated.
While the lone member of the RLD has voted in favour of the SP-BSP candidate while one member of the NISHAD party went in favour of the BJP candidate.
BJP strategist and Railway minister Piyush Goel, accompanied by chief minister Yogi Adityanath were sitting in the assembly to monitor the polling process. The BJP MLAs were divided between the nine candidates under the leadership of separate state ministers. These MLAs were asked to sit at the office of the concerned ministers and they were sent in a lot to vote.
According to sources, the BJP taking no chance has already given 37 vote to Union Finance minister Arun Jatiely, who would win in the first round of counting.
Of the total around 400 votes, around 350 votes have already been polled so far till 1330 hours.
All the 46 votes of the SP, 7 of the Congress, 17 of the BSP have been polled along with 280 of the BJP and its allies.
The voting will end at 1600 hours and the counting of votes will start from 1700 hrs. UNI
