Srinagar, Mar 27: Six guests from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) arrived here while 24 Kashmiris
crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) in the weekly
Karvan-e-Aman bus to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition,
official source said on Tuesday.
As many as five returnees also crossed side at the Kaman
Post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC at Uri sector on
Monday, they told.
They said six PoK residents, including two women and three children, arrived at Kaman post in the bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK. Five Kashmiris, who had crossed over to other side of the LoC also returned after completing stay with their relatives, separated in 1947. They included two women, sources said.
They said 24 residents of Kashmir, including nine women and two children crossed over to POK, they said.
The bus, one of the major Confidence Building Measure (CBM), has helped thousands of families, separated in partition in 1947, to meet each other since the service was started on April 7, 2005 after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of residents on both sides of the LoC.
It was also agreed to allow travel on “ travel permits” instead of International passports provided their names are cleared by the intelligence agencies from both the countries. UNI
