Agartala,
Feb 8: Tripura CPI (M) raised objection against the campaign module of
BJP and demanded election commission to take action against
it. The party complained that a booklet regarding commitment of implementation of 7th
central pay commission for the state government employees circulated by BJP with
Governor Tathagata Roy’s picture on the cover page.
The booklet entitled ‘Why is 7th pay commission required’, BJP has pointed out in detail the deprivation of employees and officers of the state on the head of salaries and allowances and made a commitment on how the BJP will implement the hiked pay and allowances at par with recommendations of 7th central pay commission.
The CPI (M) state secretary Bijan Dhar objected to the printing of Governor’s picture on the cover-page of the booklet and alleged that BJP was free to circulate its booklet but how could it print the picture of a constitutional functionary like Governor of the state on the front page.
“The Governor is the constitutional head of the state; his name and picture can not be
dragged down into election politics, which is considered as violation of election code of conduct,” said Dhar adding that the party has demanded immediate confiscation of all the copies of the booklet.
He also alleged that the newly constituted BJP-led government in Manipur has failed to implement the recommendations of the 7th central pay commission and taken punitive action against the employees there.
“Misguiding people in the name of implementing pay commissions is old politics of BJP but they had committed grave impropriety by dragging the governor’s name and picture on the booklet; all the copies of the booklet should be confiscated,” the party demanded.
However, CEO said that commission is looking into the matter. UNI
