Srinagar, Feb 3: Train service resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for a day in Kashmir valley for security reasons, following “Shopian Chalo” called by separatists to express solidarity with the families of civilians who died in security force firing during the past two weeks.
'We have resumed all train runs in the Kashmir valley after a fresh advisory was received from police last night,' a senior railway official told.
Therefore, the trains will run on Badgam-Srinagar to Baramulla track in north Kashmir as per schedule, he said. Similarly, all train runs between Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region were resumed.
This was the 9th time the train service remained suspended fully or partially in the Kashmir valley this year.
'We are acting on the advice of state administration and police,' he said, adding that rail authorities have no role in it.
'On Saturday, we witness heavy rush of passengers, particularly in the afternoon, when people are going to home from their place of work to spend Sunday with their families,' he said. UNI
