Delhi, Feb 3: The annual welfare exhibition 'Sandiksha Mela' of Sashastra
Seema Bal (SSB) has begun here with colourful regional dance performances by
different frontiers of the frontier force.
SSB's three-day Mela cum exhibition was inaugurated on Friday
by Ms Madhulika Rawat,wife of General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Army Staff, and
will continue till Sunday.
Ms Rawat commended the sincere endeavour of SSB Wives Welfare Association (SWWA) for creating and carving a niche in its welfare activities by working for the welfare of the families of SSB personnel.
She praised SWWA for supporting SSB families in children's education,health and also for promoting the craftsmen operating from the most interior and remote areas of Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan Borders.
Sandiksha Mela is organised by the (SWWA) as part of the initiatives taken up by the force for the welfare and well being of families of the SSB personnel especially the widows and children and began in 2004.
Being organised at the SDG grounds Old JNU campus Delhi,the event has participants from all the frontiers of the border guarding force including Lucknow, Ranikhet , Patna ,Siliguri , Tezpur and Guwahati.
Ms Gita Mishra, President, SSB Wives’ Welfare Association (SWWA), DG SSB Rajni Kant Mishra, along with other officials of the force and guests were present on the occasion.
In her address, Ms Mishra said that SWWA is an important organisation of the force with more than 75,000 families in it’s ambit.
She applauded the SWWA for providing an equitable social platform to ladies of SSB families for demonstrating their creativity and showcasing their dynamism.
On Saturday and Sunday there will be performances by singers of the Indian Idol fame and there will be special performances by the comedy star Kapil Sharma and singer Mohit Chauhan on the final day of the exhibition.
Food stalls offering authentic regional cuisine from different areas of the force frontiers and unique handicrafts,cane furniture,artifacts from Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan border areas are also amongst the the attractions of the exhibition. UNI
