New Delhi, Feb 2: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 1200 hrs after the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan
Samaj Party and AAP members raised the issue of communal violence that erupted
in Kasganj of Uttar Pradesh on the Republic Day last month.
Just after laying of the papers, SP leader Ramgopal Yadav
raked up the issue by alleging that the state administration and police were
acting one-sided in the case.
"The minorities in Kasganj are being targeted by the police and administration. The entire country knows that the video footage is available in the public domain. Even then, the administration are acting one-sided. Their houses are being destroyed," said Mr Yadav.
The party also got support from arch-rival BSP, led by Mayawati, apart from CPM and CPI.
Later, the agitating party leaders entered into the Well of the House and sought reply from the Treasury Bench.
Sanjay Singh, along with his party members, raised the matter of ongoing sealing drive in the national capital territory of Delhi.
The AAP leaders also joined the protesting members in the Well.
Further, Mr Yadav also urged Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha PJ Kurien to instruct the government to give a reply on the issue.
However, the Chair rejected his request, saying "The Chair cannot direct the government. It's up to the government to intervene into it."
In the meanwhile, Congress lawmaker from Andhra Pradesh came into Well with placard, 'Help Andhra Pradesh'. The Chair repeatedly asked him to go back to seat, but he didn't pay any heed to his order. UNI
