New Delhi, Feb 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Under-19 Cricket team on
Saturday for winning the World Cup after thrashing Australia in the finals
being held at New Zealands.
'Absolutely thrilled by the stupendous achievement of our young
cricketers. Congratulations to them on winning the Under-19 World Cup. This
triumph makes every Indian extremely proud.' Mr Modi said on micro-blogging
site Twitter.
BJP president Amit Shah wrote, 'Hats off to the World Champion, Team India. Your unbeatable team spirit throughout the series has brought this #U19WC trophy home. Congratulations to the entire team, coach @Im_Dravid and the management for this unparalleled accomplishment. Proud moment.'
Union Minister for Textiles and Information & Broadcasting Smriti Irani also congratulated the young Team India for scripting a historic win at the U-19 CWC Final for the fourth time. 'You have done the whole Nation proud,' she tweeted.
The Prithvi Shaw-led Indian team outclassed three-time champions Australia
in style to win the prestigious ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup for the
fourth time in the history of the tournament.
India rewrote record books after winning the mega finals by eight wickets
