Hyderabad, Feb 9: Pegasystems Inc, a software company empowering customer engagement at the world’s leading enterprises has entered into software sales in India by securing Andhra Pradesh Government’s technology platform e-Pragati project, a centralized government portal that aims to integrate all departments.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, Pegasystems India Managing Director Suman Reddy said that this was one of the world’s largest and most complex government digital transformation projects. It would help to connect 33 departments with 800 citizen services (Applications) to cater to needs of 50 million people.
He said that the project cost was Rs 2,398 crore. All the applications would be prepared along with their channel partners by the end of March 2018 and go live by July, 2018, Mr Reddy said.
The Pegasysytems India MD said that as part of the state’s “Sunrise AP 2022” mission, to enhance quality of life for its citizens, e-Pragati would bring integrated government service directly to citizens online. This would save time and costs by reducing the need to visit government offices and multiple departments and also eliminate paper-based inefficiencies and manual processes, he said.
He said that the Andhra Pradesh Government choose Pega Government Platform with its leading Digital Process Automation (DPA) technology to rapidly build these integrated digital services on a powerful unified platform. As part of the extensive selection process, AP Government evaluated four vendors over three months.
In the final evaluation task, Pega was the only vendor able to effectively build a robust application within 24 hours. The state ultimately picked Pega’s no-code application development environment based on its ability to rapidly develop and deploy new applications to make real-time changes through its flexible architecture, reuse existing components to build new assets, and eliminate mundane tasks with robotic automation so that the state can focus on servicing citizens.
“This project marks the first client win for Pega’s new sales support office in Mumbai, which opened in December 2017. Previously, Pega India’s 1500 employees across Hyderabad and Bengaluru focused solely on engineering and product development activities over its 10-year history in the country”, he said and added that the company at present focused on the clients in India who were crossed 2 billion revenue.
He expressed confidence that some more State Governments would come forward in the coming years.
Mr Reddy said that the Pegasystems also imparted training for 1200 engineering students in collaboration with 8 Engineering colleges. All of them who are coming out from the colleges this year has got employment. Out of 1200, Pegasystems has enrolled 50 students. The students number will be increased to 2000 by next academic year, he said. UNI
